The North Central Texas Council of Governments recently recognized Marty Wieder, Arlington Economic Development Corporation’s (EDC) executive director, with the William J. Pitstick Award.
This award, presented annually, recognizes an outstanding leader from the North Texas region who shows a commitment to regionalism by working across municipal boundaries to create policies and programs for the greater good. The William J. Pitstick Award, first given to Tom Vandergriff in 1993, has been held by city managers, mayors, judges and other public officials across the 16-county region.
"As someone who is passionate about our community, Marty understands that we have to work together to make our region the best it can be," said Trey Yelverton, Arlington's city manager.
"Through his economic development efforts, Marty is committed to attracting high-paying jobs and investment, creating opportunities that allow graduates from UTA and other local institutions to build their careers here at home. By harnessing the strengths of our region, he recognizes that we can drive long-term prosperity and enhance the quality of life for residents across North Texas."
