Kay Brown-Patrick has been appointed assistant executive director of the Arlington Economic Development Corporation (EDC). She began in the new role on Oct. 21, 2024. Brown-Patrick’s position includes focus on small, minority and women-owned business enterprise development as well as entrepreneurship and innovation.
"I expect great things from Kay, as she has held a variety of economic development positions with cities of numerous sizes, managed staff and achieved recent success and recognition from the International Economic Development Council for two programs she established,” said Marty Wieder, executive director of the Arlington EDC.
“I'm confident she can step in and help position the Arlington EDC to compete and accomplish the goals set out in the City’s Economic Development Strategic Plan,” he said.
Most recently, Brown-Patrick oversaw business development activities for the City of Grand Prairie, where she oversaw retail recruitment, retention and expansion and bolstered the city’s entrepreneurship ecosystem, among other achievements.
Brown-Patrick’s skills as an economic development generalist paired with her expertise in key areas prime her for success in the role.
“Throughout my career, I have sought roles that enable me to leverage my skills to promote economic growth, support small businesses and drive innovation,” said Brown-Patrick. “Arlington’s intentional and proactive commitment to assistant small, minority and women-owned businesses, as well as attracting new investments, aligns perfectly with my professional values and aspirations.”
Brown-Patrick explained that she looks forward to making a meaningful impact on the local economy and engage with a diverse array of stakeholders in Arlington.
“I am particularly enthusiastic about the opportunity to drive innovative programs and strategies that promote sustainable growth and economic mobility in Arlington, and I look forward to contributing to the City’s ongoing success.”
