The National Medal of Honor Museum (NMOHM) won the 2025 Community Impact Award at D CEO’s Commercial Real Estate Awards. There were 106 finalists across over 21 categories for the entire awards program, including Individual and Companies and Project/Deals. Four Arlington projects had the honor of being named finalists, including Caravan Court Hotel (Best Hospitality Deal), Loews Arlington Hotel and Convention Center (Best Hospitality Deal) and One Rangers Way (Best Multifamily Deal).
The NMOHM officially opened to the public on March 25, 2025. The grand opening celebration, held on March 22, featured a spectacular public celebration and ribbon cutting attended by 32 Medal of Honor Recipients, national and military leaders, celebrities and musical guests. The Museum has more than 100,000 square feet of space, including 31,000 square feet dedicated to Exhibition Galleries telling the history of the Medal of Honor and the stories of the American heroes who earned it. Arlington was selected as the site for the museum after a national search in 2018.
The NMOHM is unique in that it is neither a war memorial nor a military museum, but instead values and biography based, taking visitors on a narrative journey through the lives of ordinary people who did something extraordinary in service to others. Visitors will learn that courage is not contained to the battlefield and having a sense of duty is not demarcated by a uniform. They will be inspired to live their own lives of service and make a positive impact in their communities. Of the 40 million Americans who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, fewer than 4,000 have earned the Medal of Honor. Of those, only 61 are living today.
