Wallbox Arlington Leads the Charge in Sustainable EV Manufacturing

February 12, 2025

Wallbox, a leading provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging and energy management solutions worldwide, opened its first North American manufacturing facility in Arlington in August 2022. The facility manufactures all of the company’s chargers in the U.S., serving multiple segments of EV charging including residential, bidirectional and hyperfast highway corridor charging.

Since the facility opened, Wallbox Arlington has prioritized environmental initiatives, recycling more than 1,000 tons of cardboard, plastics and electronic components collectively. Landfill disposal was reduced by about 30% and electricity and water consumption was collectively reduced by about 10%.

The site has achieved and maintained two International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certifications since 2023. The ISO 14001 certification ensures they are taking proactive measures to minimize their environmental footprint. The ISO 45001 certification for occupational health and safety helps manage risks and reduce workplace injuries and incidents.

"Wallbox has a Net Zero commitment that involves implementing renewable energy in our facilities.  The Arlington facility is expected to reduce energy consumption by more than 20% this year by utilizing renewable energy," said Sharmone Johnson, environmental health & safety specialist for Wallbox North America.

The Wallbox Arlington facility also utilizes LED lights with motion sensors to assist with energy conservation. They are partnering with a renewable energy company to recycle energy within the facility and only use what is needed for operations, providing an estimated reduction of about 20% or more in energy consumption. Wallbox Arlington has plans to continue finding innovative ways to conserve and reduce their carbon footprint in the years to come.
